Senegal’s National Assembly is set to host the 32nd Africa Regional Assembly of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie (APF) in Dakar from May 18 to 20, 2026.

This high-level gathering will convene parliamentary presidents, lawmakers, and representatives from across the continent to address the most pressing political, diplomatic, security, and economic challenges currently facing the African continent and the broader Francophone community. According to official statements, the assembly will serve as a vital forum for coordinating parliamentary responses to global geopolitical shifts.

The proceedings will place a specific focus on navigating international crises and asserting African sovereignty within the current global landscape. Delegates are expected to engage in deep discussions regarding the ongoing situations in the Middle East and the Near East, as well as the broader role of parliaments in maintaining institutional stability. By fostering dialogue between diverse populations and strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, the assembly aims to position legislative bodies as central actors in the consolidation of peace and democracy throughout the region.

At the conclusion of the three-day event, the member sections of the APF Africa Region are expected to issue a final communiqué outlining the assembly’s primary conclusions and policy recommendations. By organising this prestigious regional summit, Senegal reaffirms its strategic commitment to the shared values of solidarity and cooperation among Francophone nations. The event highlights Dakar’s ongoing role as a diplomatic hub for legislative exchange and the promotion of democratic governance across the Francophone world.
