The Republican Police are maintaining pressure on urban crime in Cotonou. A new operation, expertly conducted by law enforcement, resulted in the arrest of ten individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit products in Vodjè, in the 11th arrondissement, on Friday, May 29, 2026.
This targeted raid is in line with the intensified security operations of recent weeks in this area of the economic capital.
The intervention of the security forces led to the arrest of the suspects in a kiosk and on a road running alongside the fence of the Vodjè construction site. The thorough searches conducted by the officers proved fruitful. They seized a significant quantity of cannabis, along with 134 psychotropic pills.
To try and evade detection by law enforcement, the suspects had concealed the substances in sealed devices, themselves hidden in the kiosk’s makeshift ceiling. This concealment strategy, however, proved insufficient to fool the investigators’ instincts.
The support of the population was welcomed.
In light of this operational success, Police Commissioner Ayahoué Epiphane warmly acknowledged the collaboration of the population, whose sharing of information proved invaluable for the effectiveness of the interventions.
The head of the 11th district police station reiterated his firm commitment to relentlessly pursue the fight against insecurity, in order to guarantee lasting peace and tranquility for the residents of this area of Cotonou.
